I received a voicemail that was supposedly from the IRS stating that they were filing a lawsuit against me. The message was left by a male robotic voice, not a human being. I was told to call immediately at the given number - (352) 693-8476.
I felt extremely distrustful and believed that it was a scam. I'm fairly certain that the IRS contacts people by mail in the same way as other branches of the U.S. government, and that they attempt to resolve any problems that might come up before resorting to something as drastic - and costly! - as a lawsuit. When I searched online, I found confirmation that the call was fraudulent, so I didn't call them back.
