I answered an ad about a home for rent in Californiaand he emailed me back stating he was in kenya and gave me this number so red flags went off and i decided to search the number before calling. Too suspicious for me

I got the story about missionary work in Kenya. Seems like this person is finding realty for sale in local areas to see if they can fish someone into sending them money. Renters beware, it’s too good to be true.

This phone number was attached to an email I received in response to a home in Massillon Ohio. He says his name is Scott DeHoff in the email, which matches the owner name for the property, but he says he’s in Florida for 5 years on a mission trip. Red flags popped up when he asked for money before sending keys. I’m gonna go ahead and say it’s a scam.

He posted an add for a house in Temecula on Craigslist and he was doing missionary work in Bloomington, IL and would send the keys. 2 bedroom, 2 bath for $825. Scammers are the worst kind of people.

Responded to an ad on craigslist for a home in oregon. Said he needs a lease to be signed for 4-5 years because he will be in Texas. The home on other sites say its pending sale. Which is a red fb lag. He also wanted to me to send deposit before allowing me to tour the property then he will send the keys. I asked him for photo id he said its expired so id have no use in looking at a picture of it. Sounds like a scam.

Definitely a scam. I contacted this person on Craigslist for a home for rent.. told me that I could go by and look in the windows but that he’s away in Ohio on a mission trip for 4-5 years... seems to match everyone else’s experience with this number. Also told me that I would have to send the money and he would send documents and keys in the mail. Thank goodness I googled the number before answering.

I answered a posting about a house for rent in Bellingham, WA. He replied back saying he is "in a governmental programmer," so utilities would all be covered by him. The email he used was "greatgod01@usa.com"

Scam Rental Offer for a house in Walnut Creek, CA worth 1,600,000 but renting for only $3,100/month. Pictures were stolen off of Zillow.com. I received the email below. He now says it's a church mission in Appleton, WI instead of being out of the country. Also, says you do not have to switch the utilities to your name because the landlord will pay for them. Who pays a tenant's gas an electricity bill included in the rent?
