They call themselves a Collection Agency, but they're just scammers. They buy up old, forgiven debt and try to force you to pay it. Even if it's somebody else's debt but it's attached to your phone number. Ignore them. You don't have to pay these jerks.

Tried to say his call was "personal business" but then asked for me by my nickname. When I refused to answer his question before he would answer mine, he got an attitude... "Fine, I'll call back when you know your own name!" No, you won't. Caller blocked.

This "company" has called twice today. I have told them they are calling an incorrect number for the individual they are seeking, but they called again, anyway. :( Therefore: scammer.

Called me 5 times back to back today (Sunday may 5th, 2013) . Pretended to act like he knew me personally when I answered the phone and when I told him to not call me anymore and act like he was a personal friend... He continued to call back until I had my husband call HIM back... It showed Mariette GA on my called ID

Claims they are a collection agency and had all of my personal info, but when I asked them to send me their collection stuff in the mail they said that they couldn't and would only settle up over the phone.

Have called several times over last few weeks. I have the phone # of a deceased gentleman who had some financial issues. If this is portfolio recovery I did let the corporate office know the gentleman had passed and gave them a city of Cincinnati department they could call to verify that fact. Perhaps they don't believe me or they don't pass the word to all their various call centers.

These people keep calling about a debt that was paid years ago. Even though it's no longer on my credit report, someone seems to have got ahold of it and is causing me a great deal of grief attempting to collect on it. I flatly told the caller, each time, that the debt has exceeded the statute of limitations for collection and that it has been paid. Then I hang up. They call back and rudely request "paperwork proving the debt is paid." I've reported them to the FCC. I don't know it'll do any good.

Claim they are a collection agency for a paid debt that was over ten years old. I asked for paperwork; they said they sent it to an address I haven't lived at for 15 years. I told them in no uncertain terms what they could do with their collection.

These people called about an old debt belonging to an ex-husband whose eventual bankruptcy cleared. We are talking 15 years since divorce and at least 13 since his bankruptcy. Can't imagine where they are getting their information, but no matter how many times you tell them it is not your responsibility and is non-existent as a debt, they keep calling. Reporting them.

Portfolio Recovery calls multiple times per day before 8:00 AM and after 9:00 PM. Criminal SCAMMERS trying to collect FALSE debts. Will get your info through the different credit report agencies when you open a new bank account, get a new credit card, get a loan of any kind, etc. Then they will manufacture false debts often from loans that were PAID in full years a go. They harass their innocent victims and are actively being investigated and prosecuted by many government agencies. Do NOT answer their calls. Portfolio Recovery and their employees are CRIMINALS who are in the business of EXTORTION.
