So far today I've spoken to Gerard Cunningham, Karen Carol, Aubry Marshall, "Susanna" and Victoria Caldwell. First they said they were Goldman and Associates, then they called themselves GMA. They told me that they were an information center, I identified myself, and they said that a company called "cash.net" is trying to collect on a loan. I asked them what type of company that they were, and they refused to tell me. I was hung up on 6 times. On the 7th time, I once again identified myself, and I told them what I did for a living, which is law enforcement. They asked me for my phone number and said it wasn't in their system. HaHaha.. I told them they've called me 7 times today. I then gave them my parents number, because they keep calling them.
The located me, and said that they were calling regarding a loan that was taken out ONLINE no less, which is nonsense, back in 2008. They said I can either "resolve" the loan by admitting that I took it out, or I can deny it and they would serve me with papers. So I asked them how they expected me to remember taking out a loan 5 years ago, that isn't even on my credit report as being in collections (went to Credit Karma.com), they repeated their nonsense about the "resolving" the loan or being served. I asked them what my address was, and they did in fact give my address from 5 years ago, HOWEVER, my job required me to update my address with DOT (and it's the law), and I did a change of address with the post office all the time, so whatever..
Anywhoo.. I asked them why I couldn't find a "GMA" or "Goldman and Associates" on google. They had no answer. I then asked them why when I googled their number, it came up as a scam. They said something like "we don't have a listed number.." so I gave them the 515 number, and I told her she should google it and see what comes up, and she said she would forward the information to her manager. Then she tried to hang up on me, and I was all "Woah woah woah!! You guys keep calling me. ." so she responded with "Ma'am I'm not going to argue with you." And I asked how I was supposed to take care of my "loan" if they were going to continue to refuse to give me info. I told them that I wasn't just going to give someone money if I didn't know who they were, and I told them I wasn't a fool.
On the 7th time that I called, they AGAIN refused to give me info, and I told them that I noticed that they were located in Des Moines Iowa, and that I was going to call the Police Dept., down there, and she says "I thought you were a law enforcement officer" I said "I was. I'm retired. and that doesn't make a difference because "Iowa would have to deal with you." So because I kept "arguing" with them, she says to me "you call who you need to call, but you need to STOP CALLING US."
I realize I have way too much time on my hands to continue to call them, but hell! You're going to call me all day, so I'm going to harass you! I strongly urge EVERYONE to do this and see what happens.
Any reputable business would identify what kind of business they are. When they said that they were an "information center," I asked them why, if they were an information center, were they calling me. I says "shouldn't I be calling you?"
LOL go scratch.
