The caller was in the Sales Department for USA Vacations, located in Florida. I called the number back to see if it was a real number. It was. Initially, the call was made by an automatic dialer. It stated that if I wished to talk to someone, I should push #1. I did this only to be able to obtain their number.
470-226-1741 called @ 8:48 PM on 5/15/12. Couldn't even pronounce my name properly (simple name). Started talking about cruise trips, etc. Believe it may have been some type of vacation business. Told man I was on the Federal & State NO CALL LISTS, and that I demanded he remove my phone number from their calling lists. He continued talking as though he hadn't heard me. Made same demand 3 more times, and finally hung up on the stupid b*****d!
Called @ 8:40PM on Aug 6th, 2012 Identified as Shining Wish Foundation and "thanked me for my past support" then said they could surely count on me supporting sick children in Oklahoma (where I live) again with the same pledge. I knew I had not donated to any such thing, soI asked them if they were a scammer as I had never heard of them or supported their organization. She replied that I had supported them since 1998 (I was a high school senior then..) and that they really appreciated it. I then informed them that I knew she was scamming me and hung up. Scamming calls are one thing, but using the 'sick children' card is the lowest of the low. Nothing from this number can be legitimate in my opinion. Avoid at all costs!
As I have caller ID and am on the "no call list"....I gave them the full benefit of my very loud "fog horn" right into the phone when they attempted to speak. I also reported them to 888-382-1222...the no call list phone number to report violators so they can be fined as they obviously have no respect for the law....hope they enjoyed the fog horn!!
Children's Wish Foundation International www.childrenswish.org 470-226-1741 Did not leave message.
Called me at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning! Isn't it against the law to call before 9 a.m. or after 9 p.m.? They did not leave a message. I tried to call them back and was provided with a computerized message about fulfilling the wishes of children. No one is going to give money to anyone that wakes them up on a Saturday morning. Thanks to Bermy1 I don't have to look up the number to report them.
Reported to donotcall.gov
This number keeps calling me repeatedly, and they never leave a message.
My caller ID identifies the call (the most recent came in this morning at 9:15 CST) as from CWFI and the number as: 470-226-1741. (All it says is CWFI, by the way, with the number) As with \'Anold\' on Dec. 14 2012, \'CWFI\' has called my phone repeatedly and has never left a message or spoken to me if I\'ve answered. I will report them to donotcall.gov, and thanks to Mikey, I know who to report!
Received the call this morning. It hung up on me, I called it back, got the automated c**p and hit 1 to be removed from list and I stated all list but the recording ask for one of the names your calling about. When I started listening to the names I have never heard of any so not sure what list I'm on I said all list Now trying to find a real number to make sure I'm off the list
Repeated very annoying hang-up calls: when someone does respond on their end after I answer, they say I have helped them before (which I have not).
Hangs up when answering machine comes on. Evidently a telemarketer for something. Very annoying. This is why I screen all my calls.
I hit 1 when I called back and got the automated hope that stops them.
I do not answer calls that I do not recognize on my caller ID, especially at 8:30 pm on Mother's Day.
I also have ID on my phone and I am on the Do Not Call List...not that it helps at all. Strangers and organizations strange to me ring me up all the time. If I tell them I have never donated to their organization in the past and I am on the Do Not Call list, they simply hang up in my ear.470-226-0741 just did that to me...hung up in my ear. Seems that we need a better system than the Do Not Call List. Also, I doubt that there is any follow through with the list. I'll bet no one has ever been fined for violating this mandate.
CWFI SAME PHONE NUMBER AS YOU HAVE LISTED BUT DID NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE
Phone rang-answering machine picked up-I said hello- nobody there and whoever it was hung up. I am a male and perhaps it was some sort of scam for females. I wish it would stop.
Phone rang 3 times but when I picked it up nobody was there and they hung up. I am on the no call list but get many of this type of calls.
I answered the phone but when the answering machine started nobody was there and they hung up.
I was called by this number, but told them I was unable to donate anywhere this year. A few minutes later, I got a second call but when I answered, there was no one on the line.
CWFI calls come from a company called level3 communications (www.whitepages.com, reverse phone lookup). Once you get on their list, they call you for multiple charities. There used to be an option to be removed and I did that in mid January. I keep track and they stopped calling for a couple of months but now they're calling again. But this time I get a fast busy when I call them back. See www.charitynavigator.com for their financials - only about 46% of the funds CWFI collects goes to the children. I've started calling the charities directly and letting them know that level 3 has predatory / harassing methods and that they'll never get a donation as long as they use level 3. It's the only other option I can think of that might help.
