They left a message, saying that they were from the IRS, and I needed to call back the number, or they will send a local officer to my house right away. Old scam, but never dies. I just ignored them, and reported this number to FTC and the IRS. I really hope that the authority will arrest them ASAP.

Yes. Clearly this is a scam!!!! When I acted a bit hostile, he mirrored and repeated the words I said. Then after he told me to tell the person in the background to shut up!!! They couldn't speak clear English. I told him to go f**** off he said the same and hung up! These people or moron!!!!!!!

d**n, thank you for posting this information! I would have called back the number if it's not for this page. I thought this was someone I know, because the number's familiar for me. I'm glad I read the reports here. I think I will just report the number to FTC.

Caller left a voice message... Sensitive. My name Ofc. Kevin Smith and hotline to my division is 347-286-7377. I repeat it's 286-347-7377. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any legal actions against you. Goodbye and take care. You can hear his broken English when listening to it and how he was trying to not have an accent. He never identifies where he is from and what they will be taking legal actions for.

I just received the similar message with heavy accent from the same person and number. I agree with you that IRS will not leave such a message and they will communicate with letters first and they will work with you very reasonably if you owe any tax. Don't bother calling back but record the message if you can and turn it over to authority. Peace.

Said his name was Officer Kevin Smith from the IRS. He wanted to talk to me or my attorney about three "criminal" lawsuits filed by the IRS against me for non payment of taxes. When I told him this is a scam and that I was reporting this call to the IRS and Treasury Inspector General of the Federal Tax Administration he hung up the phone. I reported the incident to the Treasury Dept. on the following website. www.tigta.gov THIS IS DEFINATELY A SCAM!!!!!!! DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously a scam, threatening legal action for an "extremely time sensitive issue" if I don't call back immediately. I filed a complaint with the FTC
